Garth Ennis is great. His comic the ‘Preacher’ was great. Preacher on HBO, sounds great! HBO is developing a one-hour series with Mark Steven Johnson, who has written such crap as ‘Daredevil’, ‘Elektra’ and ‘Ghost Rider’, that…doesn’t sound so great.
If you have never heard of ‘Preacher’ you should hurry and read it now incase they screw it up. There have been many attempts to try and bring the comic to the big screen before, but nothing has stuck so far. I think the closest it has ever came, was by Kevin Smith and was suppose to star James Marsden. The HBO version is also being directed by Howard Deutch, who has done ‘Pretty in Pink’ and ‘Melrose Place’ two Horror Yearbook favorites.
‘Preacher’ tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named ‘Genesis’ in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church. He is joined by his old girlfriend Tulip O’Hare, as well as a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy.
