While the Clive Barker fansite fights for a 145 minute Nightbreed DVD no one wants, Lightning Media has decided to release a movie adaptation of Barker’s Books of Blood… 15-years too late. The movie based on Barker’s short stories “The Book of Blood” and “On Jerusalem Street” is set for a direct-to-dvd release on September 29.
It will be presented in 16×9-enhanced 1.78 widescreen with 5.1 Surround sound, accompanied by a making-of featurette. It will also be available on Blu-Ray the same day.

HEY, I want a directors cut of Nightbreed!
You don’t count because you run the fansite!
I want a Director’s cut of Nightbreed too. But I also wanted Book of Blood to be in theater. Still looking forward to the Bluray anyways.
I don’t run the fansite. I’m a different Phil.
im a huge barker fan but rather fans got behind getting some of his films in theaters rather than a new cut of Nightbreed.
I was just kidding Phil.
I like Nightbreed. It\’s far from the best movie ever made, I give you that. But come on, it\’s a helluva lot better than the Candyman sequels.
Just saw BOB in 4:3 on a bootleg, not bad. Some of it is really good, some, because of the video not film used to shoot looks like a soap-opera. That’s a shame. The film has a slow, building pace that is very un-hollywood (hense you won’t see it in theaters) I liked it better than “Midnight Meat Train” and am looking forward to a 16:9 blu-ray without all the color washed out like the copy I watched.
All the bootlegs available on bit torrent sights are just proof that the fans are out there, otherwards they wouldn’t be ripping the foreign DVD and offering it for download all over the world. Also, how dumb to release it in some countries four months ahead of the US and UK! Of course people are watching bootlegs!!! Now they are killing the audience for when it goes on sale worldwide. Dumb.
Also: NIGHTBREED EXTENDED CUT!!! DAMNIT! LETS GET IT DONE!!!!
Another Barker fan who:
A. Wants the extended cut of NIGHTBREED
B. Can’t wait to see BOOKS OF BLOOD as well as DREAD
C. Finds it downright silly that some people find work from 15 years ago to be dated or too old. Gods know what you must think of ancient work from the seventies or the unreadable tomes of the distant past, like those of Lovecraft or Blackwood. You better stick to the freshest and newest work, which must, of course, be the best. I hear there’s a new Stephanie Meyer out
I did not say anything by Barker is dated I said they missed their chance with these films. At this point I almost rather no Barker films than shitty films based on his book’s Prologue.
