New Moon stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning were in a recording studio in Los Angeles yesterday to lay down some tracks for The Runaways biopic. Up until this point I thought this movie was based on the Marvel comic about the young superhero team, but is actually about Joan Jett’s (Stewart) band with the same name. Dakota Fanning plays Cherie Currie, and the only other cast member I see listed on IMDB.com is Stella Maeve as Sandy West.
The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi — who I have never heard of — and is looking at a 2010 release date.

Floria Sigismondi is a music video director who is famous for directing Marilyn Manson’s iconic videos for “The Beautiful People” and “Tourniquet.” She also did Fiona Apple’s “O’ Sailor” video.
