The bad news for Platinum Dunes’ A Nightmare on Elm Street remake keeps rolling in. This time the blow was dealt by the original director himself, Wes Craven, who told IGN that he was not happy with what is happening to his beloved film.
“Yes it does hurt, it does because its such an important film for me that, unfortunately, when I signed the original contract I gave up all rights to it and so there’s nothing I can do about it,” he says. “I was much happier with Last House on the Left that I could kind of shepherd it towards production and we found a really wonderful director.”
“I don’t even know who’s doing it and I’m not interested. It’s actually really painful to think about it. It’s the film of mine that I probably love the most, and which made the most money. The script went around Hollywood for three years and nobody touched it and I went through all my life savings and everything else to pay for it, so I had to make the deal I did. Frankly, at that time I thought it would be one movie and that’s it. I never thought it would go on and on and on.”
It sounds like Craven is also fed-up with bad Platinum Dunes’ remakes and rather not see some music video director butcher his work. Very interesting.

Damn straight he deserves to be pissed. His movies are golden and perfect the first time around. All platinum Dunes wants is a goddamn paycheck, they dont give a shit about the movie. And the thing that pisses me off the most is that they fucking suck at it too.. they RUIN these classics. At least give a shot like rob zombie and actually put your time and effort into making it your own and making a pretty decent damn film. but no, all these douchebags wanna do is put 400 gallons of blood and as many tits as possible and call THAT a movie. they’re bogus losers who are getting paid for taking SOMEONE elses pride and joy, their masterpieces, the thing they put so much effort and time into making.. HEY PLATINUM DUNES how about trying to write your OWN damn movies! and stop taking other peoples. the Nightmare remake is the one movie you shouldnt have taken. It cant be done any better, at all. Wes is the man. Greatest horror talent we have today.
Yeah, Wes deserves the preservation of this one. First The Hills Have Eyes, then Last House on the Left, now ANOES. It’s not right how Wes put so much time and effort, blood, sweat, and tears into his original masterpiece and he doesn’t even get to keep control of his own creation. He didn’t just direct the film he wrote it and put his soul into every scene. It’s things like this that really put things into perspective. Platinum Dunes is ruining horror, film by film, and the people responsible for the films we grew up with, like Wes, are getting fucked over everyday. It’s okay though, Platinum Dunes is obviously doing it because of their love and respect for horror…not the money(LOL).
