TampaBay.com Offended by Black Devil Doll

There is a hilarious article about a screening of Black Devil Doll that appeared on Tampabay.com where “film critic” Steve Persall insists he is not going to tell anyone about the film, but then proceeds to do so anyway.

Persall’s white guilt won’t allow him to be “baited” into helping sell tickets for a racist movie. He also claims he loves tasteless films but not the type marketed towards the “sick, niche audience” BDD is aimed at. The worst part is that Steve continuously insults horror and exploitation fans by referring to us as “sickos, and he hasn’t even seen the film!

You can check out the article here, then let us know if we should nominate him for Horror Yearbook’s A-hole of the Year award.

Don’t forget Steve wants you to know that sometimes “you need to give a f—”

That’s what I’m saying to anyone believing Black Devil Doll is just a harmless joke that doesn’t pander to base, racist instincts, with ramifications beyond its running time; people who’ll use the fact that Lewis is African-American as justification for the bile. People who’ll say: “Chill out, it’s only a movie.” There are others outside their circle who would disagree, and not as rationally as I’ve tried.

This is the independend filmmaker PR stunt of the year. I wonder how much the Black Devil Doll guys paid that guy to write that?
