Mother’s Day Remake

The other day I was smoking a cigarette outside at 2am in my underwear, and I thought — “I wonder how Darren Lynn Bousman is going to followup Repo!.” Well it looks like god answered my question…Or at least Esplatter did.

He is remaking Charles Kaufman’s Mother’s Day, and what a great time for the announcement since Mother’s Day is only two days away.

MD follows a mother and her two psychotic grown “boys” who kidnap and torment three women on a camping trip in the woods. It is pretty much a “cult classic” so at least Bousman will be able to call it as such and not be lying like he did with Repo!.

UPDATE: Here is a little more info via Horror-Movies.ca: “Twisted Pictures, the Genre Co. and Rat Entertainment have lined up a financing deal with LightTower Entertainment to make the [Mother's Day] remake happen.”

“We’re taking the iconic image of a mother, the most comforting and nurturing person in the world, and perverting that into something that is punishing and sadistic,” Genre’s Richard Saperstein said.

He added that the remake will be timely, reflecting today’s foreclosures and tough economic times. “She’s lost her house. Her boys are going to get it back to her.”

Fuck the remake. Read my review of the original, classic MOTHER’S DAY here:
