Warner Brothers to Make Death Note

Variety announced that Warner Brothers is planning a U.S. movie adaption of the very popular Japanese manga novel Death Note. Screenwriters Charley and Vlas Parlapanides are writing the script about a college student, who discovers he can kill anyone he chooses just by writing their names on the pages of his “death note.”

The original Death Note was a 13-volume bestseller in Japan written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata.

There have already been two Japanese movie adaptations, but this will be the first U.S. version.
