In my article The Twilight Machine Delivering Steaming Piles of Crap, I pointed out that Summit Entertainment seems more interested in quickly pumping out Twilight films for money, instead of delivering a quality franchise to Twilight fans. In an interview with Austin360.com, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke somewhat confirms my suspicions.
When asked why she decided not to direct New Moon Hardwicke replied:
“If I felt like it was right, if the schedule worked right and the way the studio wanted to do the next one felt right for me, then I wanted to do it. And, if not, I didn’t want to. I’d have had like 10? weeks to prepare the movie. I didn’t think the script was there, and it wasn’t ready. I wanted the second one to be better than the first one. I wanted more time to at least think about it and dream about how to step it up to the next level.”
So Twilight fans do you still think you’re getting the films that you want and deserve, or does it look like you may be getting the rushed, poor man’s version of the Harry Potter franchise?
I personally smell a faint scent of crap when it comes to Summit’s handling of Stephanie Myer’s novels.
