Brain Hammer approved horror dvds hitting stores 02/10/09:
FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES: The 2nd Season (6-disc set): Paramount
Just in time to cash in on the release of the Friday The 13th remake, Paramount is unleashing the horrifying second season of the cult classic Friday The 13th horror anthology series. Louise Robey (hot!) and John D. LeMay star as Micki and Ryan, cousins who are reunited after inheriting their deceased uncle’s antiques shop. They are shocked to discover that their uncle broke an immortality pact with the Devil to sell cursed antiques. Micki and Ryan then must race to recover everything their uncle sold to an unsuspecting public. Just like the name of the antique shop, this offbeat series delivers the “curious goods.”
MY NAME IS BRUCE (special edition): Image
Cult film and TV star Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Maniac Cop) lampoons his own B-movie legacy with MY NAME IS BRUCE, a goofy horror-comedy which pits him against a malevolent spirit in order to save a diehard fan. Campbell also directed, and brings a loose, kitchen sink vibe to the proceedings, which has teenager and Bruce Campbell fanatic Jeff (Taylor Sharp) kidnap his idol in order to save his small town from an ancient Chinese demon. Unfortunately for Jeff, Bruce is a broken down, booze swilling reprobate who proves woefully inadequate in dispelling the monster.
The special edition DVD of MY NAME IS BRUCE comes with a 24 page comic book adaptation from Dark Horse, a commentary track, an amusing making of featurette, and a spoofy tell all mockumentary on the “real” Bruce Campbell. GROOVY!
RED MIST (special edition): Anchor Bay
The medical students at Forthaven General Hospital study hard and party harder, until a cruel prank accidentally puts the facility’s creepy janitor into a deep coma. But when one responsible student tries to revive the degenerate loner with an experimental injection, she instead sends his brainwaves berserk. Will a sudden spree of sick kicks now claim the guilty one by one, or has the ultimate out of body experience ushered in a bloodbath of brutal revenge?
Special features include The Making of Red Mist featurette, an extended interview with star Arielle Kebbel, and footage of the cast in Northern Ireland.

KEEP THE BLOOD FLOWING!!!
