New Cannibal Film: Isle of the Damned

In the spring of 1979 Italian filmmaker Antonello Giallo began production of Pleasures of the Damned, by mid-Summer the film was released and was met by outrage from the Italian government. When criminal charges were brought upon Giallo, he fled to the jungles of South America to dodge public obscenity charges, thus began the production of Isle of the Damned. The film has been long out of print, but is now available in a digitally remastered form.

Okay not really a true story, but it is the fun, fictional back-story for Mark Colegrove’s homage to the cannibal film Isle of the Damned, currently searching for distribution. Check out the two trailers below to see why you will not want to miss out when it is finally released.

Synopsis:

In Antonello Giallo’s follow up to the notorious Pleasures of the Damned, private investigator Jack Steele is hired by a mysterious treasure hunter to help find the lost treasure of Marco Polo. Along for the trip is Jack’s adopted son, Billy. Their search brings them to an island off the coast of Argentina… and into the clutches of a primitive cannibal tribe, the Yamma Yamma. Alexis Kinkaid, a mysterious recluse who has made his home on the island amongst the cannibals, may hold the key to unlocking the island’s secret…
