Original My Bloody Valentine Coming to DVD

One good thing about remakes is that it normally ensures a “special edition” of the original horror film will be released on DVD. As we all know My Bloody Valentine 3-D is headed to theaters on January 16th, so Lionsgate has decided to release the original slasher film on DVD. No word on any special features or if the original cut footage will be added back to the film.

Shocktillyoudrop.com, who broke the news says: “We’re told deleted scenes may possibly be included – that’s a far cry from the bare bones release from Paramount a few years back.”

The deleted footage being added back into the film, or even just being included in the special features would be big news for horror fans in 2009, however, remember this is Paramount we’re talking about… So don’t get your hopes up for anything too exciting.

UPDATE: They just announced a few special features:
Never-Before-Scene Lost Footage
Featurette about the making of the film
Ultimate Slasher: Interactive Guide into the evolution of the slasher genre

The DVD will be available January 13, 2009
