The Saw Franchise Can’t be Stopped

The most anticipated horror movie numbers of 2008 are in! And while Saw V didn’t take number 1 (losing out to High School Musical 3: Senior Year — $42,000,000), it still pulled-in $30,500,000. Good enough sounding numbers to ensure we will be stuck with the franchise for a long time. Plans for a Saw VI were already announced sometime last year, and as we speak 10 unknown actresses are battling it out on VH1’s reality TV show, Scream Queens for their chance to appear in the film. Meaning we already knew we were stuck with a part six, but now there is a possibility we could see more.

Horror fans that wanted Saw’s grip on the Halloween season to be broken may have to wait a few more years. However, for those younger fans who enjoy the franchise, I say let them have it. It is their Friday the 13th, and in 20-years from now it will probably be considered a classic. I’m sure their were people shaking their heads in the 80s every time one of our beloved franchises kept raking in the dollars, and I shouldn’t have to remind you of the saying; “If you can’t beat’em…” So YAY for Saw!
