The Urban Legend franchise may not have a lot of fans, but what it does have is an interesting history. The original Urban Legend was supposed to be a springboard for many young stars of the 90s. It featured Jared Leto’s jump from television to feature films, Rebecca Gayheart’s break from being “The Noxima Girl,” and it inflicted great pain on us by introducing the world to Tara Reid. Danielle Harris even tried to find greener grass by leaving the dying Halloween franchise and joining the doomed Urban Legend franchise. Not to mention it also featured longtime genre vets like Robert Englund and Brad Dourif.

Composer John Ottman directing debut (and last directing gig) Urban Legend 2: Final Cut looked to cash in on the Scream formula and featured Eva Mendes, Loretta Devine and Anthony Anderson, again not a bad cast.

The same people who brought us the Blockbuster hits X2 and Superman Returns wrote the direct to DVD Urban Legends: Bloody Mary. A better movie than Final Cut but that isn’t saying much.

The surprising fact about all three movies (and possibly why it failed as a slasher franchise) is none of them contain nudity. However, that doesn’t mean the women of the Urban Legend movie franchise didn’t appear naked elsewhere. We all have seen Tara Reid’s famous shark-bite boob slip, and Gayheart has been caught running around topless on the beach.
