With all the remakes and sequels that came out this summer, there may be no better time for a Goonies 2, but Variety reports that the project is more than dead.

Horrormovies.ca says: “Richard Donner and Spielberg were working on the project but it didnt pan out. Richard Donner hints that the scripts he was submitted just did not hold up or make sense as a sequel.”

So it seems that Donner was being a little more picky than the people who made Lost Boys 2, and didn’t want to produce any pile of garbage just to cash in. Meanwhile Corey Feldman is desperately trying to figure out a way to get it made and weasel his way in, while Haim is desperately trying to find his next fix. Just kidding!
