First, let me make something clear, Horror Yearbook does not hate studio films. We do however hate when “The Suits” in Hollywood, fuck-up good films by doing stupid things. So instead of making a whole bunch of posts about what’s getting screwed in Hollywood, here is a quick list:
The Invasion: Starring Nicole Kidman, where is it? Reshoot because some idiot named Jeff Robinov didn’t like the ending. So the Wachowski Brothers have been brought in to re-write the ending, oh great. It will be on the shelf for another year.
John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’: How are they going to fuck it up? You guessed it, remake! The only good news is that, Strike Entertainment is behind it and the last thing they remade was ‘Dawn of the Dead’. Can they get lucky twice, we’ll see.
World War Z: The great book by Max Brooks, film rights were in a bidding war between, ready? Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt won (I think, oh, who cares). Maybe they should steal, Alien vs. Predator’s tagline: “Whoever wins… We lose”.
Midnight Meat Train: OK, “Hollywood” didn’t fuck this one up, yet! At least I don’t think so. I just wanted an excuse to post the poster. Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars) we’ll see what happens when one of Clive Barker’s better short stories, gets made into a movie. Keep your fingers crossed.
