The publishing, movie and music industry all have been desperately trying to figure out how to use the internet to their benefit for years, but sometimes it seems that it has cost them more than it has helped them. Recently Kevin Cogill was arrested for leaking the new Guns N’ Roses album online and now author, Stephanie Meyer of the bestselling Twilight books, is so upset that the latest Twilight book, Midnight Sun was leaked online, she told MTV: “for all intents and purposes, Breaking Dawn is the last book.”
Meyer told her fans that she did not want “readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited, and published,” and that, because of the leak, she feels “too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.”
And of course the fans have their teenage panties in a bunch, demanding campaigns to “call, email, and stalk” Meyer to release the last book.
All I have to say is “OMG RELAX” there is no way, with the cash cow that Twilight books are, that they won’t release the last in the series, leak or no leak. Maybe this is why Meyer is so good at writing young adult fiction, because she knows how to throw a hissy fit like one.
