They have been talking about this Wizard of Gore remake starring Crispin Glover, Bijou Phillips, Jeffrey Combs and Brad Dourif for what seems like forever now, and it is finally getting a DVD release, on August 19th via Dimension Extreme. The problem is, Dimension forgot to take the stupid Suicide Girls gimmick off the cover.

While I’m normally opposed to remakes, this one doesn’t seem so bad. Tim Sullivan’s 2001 Maniacs was a fun, updated, homage to Herschell Gordon Lewis’ film, however Jeremy Kasten’s update of Gordon’s 1970 classic, just seems lame with the “Featuring Suicide Girls” slapped all over it.

It seems like a sleazy ploy HYB would employ, and just makes the movie seem lame.

Anyway the DVD special features are listed below.

The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track.
