BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL (a.k.a. HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN; special edition): Deimos/BCI Eclipse
An ex-convict who is troubled by dreams that he strangles women is hired as the caretaker of an estate owned by three very strange and sexy sisters. Soon after his arrival, a savage serial killer begins slaughtering blonde, blue eyed women and leaving their eyeballs in a bowl of water.
Deimos/BCI Eclipse presents the complete uncut version of the film. The bonus features include two audio tracks: Castilian with English subtitles and English dubbed track, an introduction by star Paul Naschy, and audio commentary with Paul Naschy and director Carlos Aured.
HUMAN BEASTS (special edition): Deimos/BCI Eclipse
Paul Naschy stars as a mercenary who double-crosses his partner/girlfriend Meiko and gets shot for his troubles. Failing unconscious, he is taken in by a wealthy doctor who has two beautiful daughters. His recuperation is slow, and as he recovers he is seduced by the daughters and apparently haunted by the ghost of their mother. Strange things are going on at the house and if he is going to survive the night, he’ll have to escape the house.
Special features include the Spanish credit sequence, alternate footage, still gallery of photos, posters and other advertising material, and an introduction by star Paul Naschy.
THE MIST (single & 2-disc special editions): Weinstein Co./Genius
A mysterious mist, thick with bloodthirsty creatures, descends on a small town. A group of people hole up inside a grocery store and have to fight for their lives and their souls. Thomas Jane stars in this superior Stephen King adaptation from writer/director Frank Darabont. The nifty two disc collectors set includes a special black and white directors cut of the film as well as several behind the scenes features.
THE TORTURE CHAMBER OF DR. SADISM/DEATH SMILES ON A MURDERER (special edition double feature): Legend House
THE TORTURE CHAMBER OF DR. SADISM is a charming 1967 horror epic with Christopher Lee. The dreaded Count Regula is drawn and quartered for killing twelve virgins in his dungeon torture chamber. Thirty-five years later, he comes back to seek revenge on the daughter of his intended thirteenth victim and the son of his prosecutor in order to attain immortal life.
DEATH SMILES ON A MURDERER is a hallucinatory 1973 effort from the notorious Joe D’Amato. A demented doctor played be the one and only Klaus Kinski discovers an ancient Incan formula for raising the dead, and uses it for a series of bizarre revenge murders.
This Euro-horror double feature will make a great edition to any respectable horror collection.
