Gory greetings horroryearbook alumni! Check out this week’s Brain Hammer approved dvd releases, hitting stores Tuesday 11/06/07!
4 FILM FAVORITES: HORROR (BAD MOON, BODY SNATCHERS, COMA, WOLFEN; 2-disc rerelease): Warner
“Wolfen” is one of the most underrated 80′s horror flicks in my opinion. Edward James Olmos is beyond creepy in this. I also enjoy Abe (Driller Killer) Ferrara’s 1993 sci-fi epic “Body Snatchers.” Those two flicks make this collection a worthwhile purchase.
WEIRD CINEMA: 15 FREAKY FLICKS! (5-disc set): Passport
This is a fantastic eclectic collection of cult favorites. “These 15 rare and bizarre films, spanning four decades, are sure to amaze, intrigue, unsettle, and bewilder family and friends for years to come.” Here’s the rundown:
The Terror of Tiny Town (1938)
Child Bride (1938)
Hitler: Dead Or Alive (1942)
Bill & Coo (1948)
Chained For Life (1951)
Glen Or Glenda (1953)
Mesa Of Lost Women (1953)
The Killer Shrews (1959)
Teenagers From Outer Space (1959)
Night Tide (1961)
Carnival Of Souls (1962)
Wild Guitar (1962)
The Sadist (1963)
Santa Claus Conquers The Martians (1964)
Spider Baby (1968)
“Carnival Of Souls” is a classic, and alone warrants/justifys any purchase. I’m also a huge fan of Arch Hall Jr. as “The Sadist.” Fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will remember Arch from “Eegah!” Three of the movies (The Killer Shrews, Teenagers From Outer Space, & Santa Claus Conquers The Martians) were featured in classic episodes of MST3K. Some of these flicks already have better qualtiy dvd releases with bonus features, but if you are simply looking for a cheap purchase that will provide hours of entertainment this is the way to go.
KEEP THE BLOOD FLOWING!!!
