We all knew that Saw IV (Read Our Review Here) would be a hit, and we were not wrong. Saw pulled in $14.3 million on Friday, taking the number one spot over the Steve Carell comedy Dan in Real Life, which took the No. 2 spot with $4.1 million.
Since plans for a Saw 5 & 6 were already announced, this will only mean that they will probably be theatrical, and not straight to DVD. The question is, when will the general public get sick of the franchise, and we can get some fresh horror films on Halloween?
To be honest, I have been a little harsh on the Saw films, they’re not that awful, and it could be a lot worse, we could be stuck with bad Japanese remakes every year at this time. I just hate to see studios shuffling horror movie releases, because they are afraid to go up against Saw around this time every year.
