If you happened to have seen the first Terror Toons, then you know the story. Satan unleashes DVDs disguised as cartoons. When an unfortunate soul happens to watch the DVD, a horde of evil and murderous “toons” unleash horrible, but fun bloodshed on their unsuspecting victims. This time around Satan, through his overweight son, corrupt the innocent Hansel and Gretel turning them into his instruments of destruction. When the Terror Toons DVD is delivered to a birthday party as a gift the slaughter begins.
Terror Toons 2 is pure nonsense, nothing more and nothing less. The movie does not posses one redeeming quality, is over the top and is repulsive. If you are a gore slut, or a special effects fan then this may be the movie for you, and I think it is safe to say there is really no other movie quite like it. If you have to give the Terror Toons series anything it is that it is truly one of a kind.
Terror Toons 2 does follow the Scream sequel rule, really outdoing the first by upping the body count and in very creative ways. It is nonstop off the wall murder scene after murder scene from the minute you push play to the ending credits. These scenes are highlighted by funny cartoon noises, explicit language and many shirtless boys, which kind of makes it seem like a Disney film on crack with a dabble of gay porn. A definite change of pace for the horror genre that is normally littered with topless babes and geared toward horny straight men. If you are a homosexual horror fan that was disappointed with Hellbent you won’t be with Terror Toons 2, which also features some naked man ass as an added bonus.
Castro also went balls out (no pun intended) with the special features giving horror fans two of their favorite things, gore and a lot of DVD extras. It even includes Terror Toons 1.5 with some of your favorite characters from the first. Castro claims he made this film for the certain kind of fans that like these types of films, and it looks like he delivered. The film is very much like the first, with lots of extra deaths but follows almost the same formula. The ending is even pretty much the same when our “heroes” turn into cartoons themselves to battle the Terror Toons. Trust me I didn’t spoil anything for you.
For a movie of Terror Toons 2 caliber it is done right, is a quick and easy ride, never drags with too much explanation or plot, and it even managed to make me laugh a few times. The effects are fun and give “cartoon violence” a new meaning. Each victim meets a colorful death that never skimps on the blood or guts. Joe Castro’s SFX are wonderfully fun and well done. This is the definite party horror film, one that calls for a few jugs of whiskey and some recreational drugs.
