Sony Pictures has just launched Stage 6 Films for producing and acquiring films for theatrical and direct-to-DVD release reports Variety.

I was checking out the line up and a few things were interesting. They are making a VACANCY prequel, which I do not understand.

There is a STARSHIP TROOPERS sequel, which I assume is Part 3 as the crappy Part 2 was released a few years ago. This will star Casper Van Dien, Boris Kodjoe, and Jolene Blalock. Some guys may miss Denise Richards, but I vote they bring Dina Meyer’s character back to life.

Thomas Jane is acting and directing in DARK COUNTRY. Horror Yearbook pal Todd Farmer told me about this earlier and gave me the awesome detailed comment, “it is very dark.” A man of many words…

Wesley Snipes is apparently allowed back in the US (Wasn’t he running around in Africa avoiding the IRS?) and will star in ART OF WAR 2.

But I am totally psyched about CENTER STAGE 2. I seriously own the original on DVD and dance along with the cute girl in the red ballet dress at the end.
