Serenity may have flopped at the box office, but could strong DVD sales give the franchise a new life? Alan Tudyk, who played Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne, thinks so.
Tudyk told Moviehole ““They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie.”
Which is great news for Joss Whedon and Serenity fans. The only problem is, would it be a direct to DVD sequel, or would the studio risk another theatrical bomb? Tudyk makes it sound like the entire original cast would be willing to return (I can’t see why they wouldn’t), but no word on where fans would be watching Serenity 2, at home or on the big screen. We will keep you posted.
