Each week I’ll do my damnedest to help you sort through the store shelves full of slop, and offer my thoughts on that week’s BRAIN HAMMER APPROVED dvd releases! LET THE BLOODSHED BEGIN!!!

Brain Hammer approved horror flicks hitting stores Sept. 18:

ALLIGATOR (special edition): Lionsgate

This is a classic. Fans of animal rampage flicks should snap this up.

CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (new special edition): VCI

This is an essential purchase. Everyone MUST check this flick out! You can read my review HERE.

HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (Blu-ray): Lionsgate

I threw this in for the Blu-ray geeks. I think this will make a great addition to your collection. Keep in mind, I like to get fucked up and do some fucked up shit.

ITALIAN GIALLO COLLECTION (BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, BLOOD AND
BLACK LACE, WATCH ME WHEN I KILL; 3-disc rerelease): VCI

This collection contains two classic Italian horror flicks (Bird With The Crystal Plumage & Blood And Black Lace) and one slightly less than impressive effort (Watch Me When I Kill). If it can be found cheap enough this will make a great purchase for Italian horror enthusiasts. One thing worth mentioning is that the Blue Underground dvd release of “Bird With Crystal Plumage” is much better looking that this VCI release. If you are really picky about print quality you might want to avoid this collection and buy the BU dvd instead.

PULSE/BLACK X-MAS (2-disc rerelease): Weinstein/Genius

I included this because I’m apparently one of the few people on the planet that actually enjoyed the “Black Christmas” remake. I have no problem at all watching a bunch of hot girls getting bumped off in graphic, gory fashion. I’m nutty like that. I liked the remake because it satisfied me as a horror fan. It’s nothing like the original, which is a good thing. “Pulse” on the other hand is garbage, but this might make an interesting purchase if you haven’t already picked up BX.
