Interview With Kristen Kerr: Flight of the Living Dead

Kristen Kerr is starring in the anticipated zombie flick FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (aka PLANE DEAD) and took time to answer some of our bizarre questions. Amongst the work this loving young lady has been steadily adding to her resume are BLACK DAHLIA MOVIE, INLAND EMPIRE, and the future I SCREAM MAN with Haylie Duff and Crispin Glover. Read on and see her love of zombies and Andy Dick and her disdain for Pabst beer’s calories.

MOLLY: Has THE I SCREAM MAN started shooting yet? Are you scared or excited to be working with Crispin Glover?

KK: Oh my god. Well, unfortunately, No. THE I SCREAM MAN has not started shooting yet because it has been suspended. It was pushed back 3 times…. very frustrating to be so excited and living for and not working on anything else, preparing and waiting to prepare… Cut to: the funding fell through. However, the have promised me that the movie WILL happen and that they want the original cast. So, everything happens for a reason. I’ve had to keep this attitude because I was really excited (no, not scared) and thrilled to work with Crispin Glover!

WIL: Screw Crispin Glover- Tell us about Haylie Duff.

KK: Hmm. Well I don’t know much about Haylie Duff or her acting…. I have not seen her work, but I did meet her and I thought she was lovely. I was very excited to play her whore best friend!

MOLLY: Now, you got to play Elizabeth Short in BLACK DHALIA MOVIE directed by our friend Ramzi Abed. How do you think his film measures up against Brian De Palma’s & Ulli Lommel’s take on the murder case?

KK: How do I think Ramzi Abed’s film BLACK DHALIA measures up against? Well, I’m not so sure of the other film’s on Ms. Elizabeth Short reality are a reality. I’m not sure, but I do know this- Ramzi’s heart and soul was poured in to the entire film we made. It could not of been more for the love and ongoing infatuation of wanting to know her true killer and her exact steps and walk in this life. I enjoyed this role and working with Ramzi very much. His passion for this movie was beyond.

MOLLY: You had a role in OLD SCHOOL. What scenes where you in? And did you notice that the leads Luke Wilson and Vince Vaughn were totally high while shooting?

KK: HILARIOUS! Yes, I was in OLDSCHOOL. And No, I didn’t notice that Luke Wilson and Vince Vaughn were totally high while shooting. That is pretty funny though. I wish I were! He, he. I was a friend Will Ferrell’s wife, Perry Reeves’ character. So I was only in a couple scenes. The wedding of course, being in the wedding party… And the best scene of the movie (I think) the Andy Dick, “Art of giving a Blow job ” bridal party scene. Andy was so funny and making me laugh sooo hard, we actually got in trouble with Director Todd Phillips. It was GREAT!

WIL: Are we going to ask any questions about FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD? Can you tell us about your role- Who do you play and do you get naked?

KK: FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD it totally fucking awesome! That is all I will say. It absolutely rocks. I play airline stewardess MEGAN, and No, sorry. There are no naked ladies in this one. But trust me, you will die when you see it! You won’t even care. It is just such a fun movie. It will be out in a month!

WIL: What is your favorite zombie movie?

KK: My favorite zombie movie is (and I swear to GOD, I am not kidding you) FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

WIL: Do you think FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD will be a zombie classic or zombie flop and why?

KK: Absolutely 100% YES. And I say this with confidence. This movie has everything it takes.

WIL: Sell me on your film- If I had only $30 bucks, Why should I pass up buying a jug of Jim Beam and a case of Pabst to buy FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD?

KK: Oh God. Sell you on this film? All I can say WIL, is that I have seen the film four times and every time I see it I am more excited. More thrilled. Laughing harder. More scared. And more PROUD that I was so lucky to be at the right place, at the right time and that Scott Thomas cast me! I think it would for sure be more fun than the hangover Jim Beam would treat you to and it is not worth the calories in the case of Pabst. Have fun.

So look for a copy of FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD when it is released on DVD Oct. 2nd and check back at Horror Yearbook for some more updates on the film soon.
