Ok I don’t know why I can’t stop with the Rob Zombie news, guess I got swept up in a little Halloween mania myself. There had been some speculation after Zombie signed a new, two picture-deal with Dimension, (Read More Here) that those films may have been two more Halloween films, but Zombie squashed those rumors very quickly telling Entertainment Weekly:
”I’m not going to do any more Halloween movies, or any more remakes of any kind. I signed up for two more pictures, but not two more Halloween pictures,” he says. ”They’re going to be original stuff — and I don’t necessarily know that they’re going to be related to the horror genre either.”
Horror-Movie.ca also posted, a few days ago, a quote from Rob slamming remake directors before he made Halloween.
“I feel it’s the worst thing any filmmaker can do. I actually got a call from my agent and they asked me if I wanted to be involved with the remake of Chain Saw. I said no f***ing way! Those movies are perfect – you’re only going to make yourself look like an a**hole by remaking them. Go remake something that’s a piece of s**t and make it good. Like with my movie (House of 1000 Corpses) I have elements of Chain Saw in it because I love that movie so much, but I wouldn’t dare want to “remake” it. It’s like a band trying to be another band. You can sound like The Beatles, but you can’t be The Beatles.”
So it looks like Rob Zombie, like most horror fans, are sick of the remake game. Yeah maybe he made one, but we also keep going to see them while we bitch about them, so who is really the hypocrite? Probably all of us!
