Co-star Paul Giamatti says it is Bruce Campbell, and nothing else, that is holding up the high anticipated production of BUBBA NOSFERATU: CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRES.
“Bruce Campbell was waffling around about whether he wants to play Elvis or not again. So that’s the problem…You gotta have Elvis and you really want him playing Elvis, so hopefully we can get him to do it. If not, I’m sure they will try and find somebody else but I think it’s contingent on whether he’ll do it or not. It’s a great script, a completely insane script. I would love to do that because I love [Bubba Ho-Tep]. It’s a great movie.” - Horror-Movies
Don Coscarelli recently said at the NYC Horror FilmFest that Campbell was VERY interested in doing the film. So have things changed?
I think the series could continue without Campbell. I know he has a lot of fans, but there have been other actors that pulled off Elvis. Anyone remember Kurt Russell in 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND? Do you honestly think fans would be disappointed with Russell, or another worthy individual, taking over? I don’t. As a matter of fact, my vote goes to whoever will finally push the film into production.
