San Diego Comic-Con Updates 7/27/07

ONE MISSED CALL Remake

ONE MISSED CALL was previewed at Comic-Con with clips of ghosts and Jesus and people killing themselves. The tagline is “What will it sound like when you die?” The film stars yummy Shannyn Sossamon and hotheaded Ed Burns who gave away iPhones during the panel.

Shannyn Sossamon plays Beth who is traumatized after she witnesses the death of her two friends just a few days apart. Each of the friends had received cell phone messages (recordings of their deaths) before they died. The police are no help to Beth except Det. Andrews (Ed Burns) whose sister was also killed in a bizarre manner. So Beth and the detective struggle to solve the case and work even harder when Beth receives the ominous message “One Missed Call.”

SWEENEY TODD Poster

Seen enough of SWEENEY TODD? Too bad, look at this awesome poster for the film.

Set for Dec. 21st release, the musical film stars Johnny Depp in the titular role of the angry barber who returns home to find his wife and child. After hearing about their dreadful demise at the hands of a judge, Todd goes into business with the baker upstairs and seeks his revenge.

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA

Apparently this is really a musical. No, I don’t know why or really even care because the plot is interesting enough to make me ignore this annoying fact. The official release date is April 25, 2008.

REPO! Is about an entrepreneur that makes genetically perfect organs for people in 2056 and will send a repo man back to return his goods to him if the customer is unable to pay. A singing repo man cutting out kidneys? Sounds bloody enough for me. Stars Bill Moseley.
