House of Re-Animator Coming Soon?

Rumors of another sequel to “Re-Animator” and even an entire new trilogy have been buzzing around for quite some time now. First Stuart Gordon said he had cast William H. Macy as the dead president that Dr. Herbert West is brought in to resurrect, in “House of Re-Animator.” Next, Brian Yuzna reported that he was planning a whole new trilogy starting with “House” and followed by “Re-Animator Unbound” and “Re-Animator Begins.”

Then Jeffrey Combs said at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in San Jose that he didn’t think that “House” was going to happen.

“A year ago I would have told you that looks like that’s happening,” he said. “At this time I’d say maybe the air has gone out of that. … That’s sleeping right now. I don’t imagine that will wake up. The problem is the script we wanted to do is very topical.”

Now today in a interview with UGO.com Brian Yuzna says “House of Re-Animator” could very possibly happen:

“So it’s not unlikely that [House] may get going pretty soon. I think it’s closer than ever now. In order to bring Stuart back and have actors like William Macy and stuff, the budget has to be more than what I was working with.”

When asked if he would still do the movie if Stuart decided not to direct it, Yuzna replied:

“The House story is Stuart and Dennis’s idea. If Stuart didn’t want to direct it then we would do another story. Stuart and I talked about West in The White House during the Reagan era. As a matter of fact, Bride of Re-Animator was going to be in the White House.”
