BioShock Video Game News

BioShock is an under the sea horror adventure with killer graphics and a bizarre story. It is due on Xbox 360 on Aug. 21st and PS3 at a later date.

You play a character whose plane goes down near a lighthouse. After traveling down below it, you end up in an underwater city called “Rapture.” The name has religious significance, but also is from the deep sea divers term “rapture of the deep” when a person is caught underwater too long and enters a drunken mental fog. You will be able to enter all the places in Rapture, such as the hospital and greenhouse, once you complete objections or gain new powers. Some horrific treats include child murder, flaming teddy bears, trip wires, telekinetic tornados, and a camera that captures the carnage to teach you new kills.

The game is nonlinear with the freedom of exploring, but this also gives freedom to the monsters called Splicers. Splicers will hunt you down, go through corpses, vending machines, and locked doors. And if you die and restart the level? The Splicers emerge from different areas every time. Even better, they duck when you shoot at them and run to the medical stations when their health runs low. Talk about A.I.

And if that’s not bad enough, you have to defeat three “Big Daddys” in each area that protect the “Little Sisters”. The Little Susters are 8 year old girls that search dead bodies for blood to feed Adam, a stem-cell goo that powers Rapture. Okay, I will stop here before it gets too confusing. But needless to say, this sounds like an awesome game.
