Dennis Iliadis to Remake Last House on the Left

Variety has confirmed that Dennis Iliadis (director of the teen angst prostitution drama HARDCORE) willbe helming the 2008 remake of Wes Craven’s THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. The script was penned by newcomer Adam Alleca, who was brought in when he initially approached Craven to remake THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS. Craven, Sean Cunningham, and Marianne Maddalena are all on board as producers under the Midnight Pictures production company. Rogue Pictures will handle the theatrical release.

As you may remember, the 1972 classic focused on a group of killers that inadvertently stay at the family’s home of one of the girls they had gruesomely slayed. Craven states that the story will remain the same, but the tone will be more realistic. And while the production status has been listed as starting early 2007, it seems to have been pushed to early 2008 instead.
