Director of Original Black Christmas Bob Clark Dies.

Film director Bob Clark and his twenty-two year old son were killed in a car crash in Los Angeles this morning. Clark was sixty-five years old.

Clark may best be known outside the horror genre for his comedic efforts, such as the ass-tacular BABY GENIUSES and RHINESTONE, the T&A prototype PORKY’S and its first sequel, and the immortal A CHRISTMAS STORY.

But within the horror genre, he was known for the cult film CHILDREN SSHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972) and DEAD OF NIGHT, (1974) which was rumored to be remade by Eli Roth after CABIN FEVER, before he went to other things.

But he will be best loved by horror fans for the original BLACK CHRISTMAS, which pre-dates John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN by four years as the first prototypical slasher film. Without this film, Freddy, Michael, Jason and Jigsaw would never have been bankable enough to have ever made their first appearances.

Without Bob Clark, some of the most fun and valuable pieces of film history (horror or otherwise) would not be where they are now.

We at horroryearbook send our condolences to Mr. Clark’s family.

Bob Clark (1941-2007)

Respect, you fuckers.

[Editor's Note: Damn why couldn't it of been that idiot Matt Pletcher who is suing me? That would of been good news! This is very, very sad news.]
