Have you seen ‘Cannibal Campout’?
How about ‘Splatter Farm?”
I did, a long time ago I rented ‘Cannibal Campout’ at a Palmer Video store when I was a kid and it always stuck in my mind. All I can remember is a guy in a gas mask and somebody eating a fetus. To be honest I’m not even sure if those scenes are in ‘Cannibal Campout’ but I’m pretty sure they were.
Well the good news is you & I can find out on Jan, 16, 2007 when Camp Motion Pictures releases ‘Cannibal Campout’ & Woodchipper Massacre on DVD in retail stores.
We’re very excited about this at Horror Yearbook because their press release reads like one of our hundreds of rants or the introduction of “The Ultimate Horror Yearbook 1980″. It’s also why we started Horroryearbook.com, to support the movies and certain eras of the horror genre (Like DIY – Do It Yourself Era mentioned in their press release) that the other websites seem to ignore. So we salute Camp Motion Pictures and hope you will also by getting yourself a copy of one of their movies
From Camp Motion Pictures Press Release:
Camp Motion Pictures is the latest incarnation of long-standing consumer catalog company, Alternative Cinema whose upcoming DVD releases will now be available in national retail stores and online courtesy of an exclusive distribution arrangement with KOCH Entertainment. Camp releases will first hit stores on January 16, 2007.
Camp Motion Picture and its subsidiary labels were born out of a love for the 1980s era of DIY (do-it-yourself) horror films and late-night cable exploitation. These niche genres and the movies they spawned gained in mainstream popularity and garnered unprecedented exposure as they whirred through the VCRs of thousands in America. Obscure cult titles such as Cannibal Campout, Video Violence (which we own in our horror library- Horror Yearbook), Splatter Farm and Woodchipper Massacre appeared virtually out of nowhere and immediately gained renown either for their copious amounts of gore and extreme content.
The spirit of independent filmmaking was never stronger than in the early 80s with the advent of home video and the first consumer grade video “camcorders.”™ In years since, many have decried the end product associated with the newly affordable and user-friendly format; however, the resulting outrageous and enthusiastic direct-to-video releases were an inspiration for an entire generation of filmmakers. Camp Motion Pictures launches as a tribute to and in support of these mini cult classics, and as a distribution outlet for similarly inspired creations by today™s low-budget auteurs.
You can also check out the news about their 1st in-house production Splatter Beach directed by Mark Polonia (SPLATTERFARM) and starring Erin Brown (Misty Mundae) which is a nice tie-in with our upcoming Shock-O-Rama review.
