Kevin Smith Finishes RED STATE Script

Obsessed with Film reported that Kevin Smith is finally done with the RED STATE horror screenplay we heard about months ago.

Smith says, “It is written. Finished “Red State” today. Shortest flick (in terms of page count) that I ever wrote. Least amount of dialogue, too (not to say there’s no dialogue; just that there’s about half as much as I normally write). Unlike any other script I’ve ever authored, to say the least. Very fucked up. If I’d never said anything about it in the press and put it out under a pseudonym, I doubt anyone would ever connect me with it. Can’t wait to shoot it.”

While fans have been talking about Smith making this horror film for a while now, little is known about it. It is supposedly inspired by Fred Phelps, the nutjob Baptist Minster famous for hating on the gays and picketing Iraqi soldier funerals. Sounds like a nice guy. But I don’t know why Smith claims this is so unlike all his other work considering he made the “loss of faith” religious film DOGMA.
