This is the time in my life where people my age are looking for their little red wagon. When things we loved as kids come back in style. Transformers, Halloween and so on are being made into films or even worse re-made, but why can’t some of our favorite cult films get some damn sequels?
The watered-down, crappy, direct to DVD horror market is not smart enough to give us films like Slime City 2 or Street Trash 2, or even better let the directors of these films make some new films. So when Creature Corner talked to Roy Frumkes in March about a possible NEW Street Trash, I have not been able to stop thinking about it.
I have heard all kinds of rumors about the film, but nothing confirmed and as all of us horror websites keep publishing news about the new Alien vs Predator movie or the tired Saw franchise, we should be doing our part to let the studios know we want some films like these.
I had Molly contact Roy to see if there were any new developments, this is what he told us:
“I finished the screenplay, then did a polish after hearing from Jim Muro about what he felt needed tightening, etc. However, right now, and until there’s money in the bank, ST3 is just a dream. It’s one we’re trying to make happen, but nothing moves forward without the mool.”
Frumkes also seemed disappointed that we have never talked about his past films, including The Meltdown Memoirs which is “about the years in which [he] made [Street Trash], and the years since,” or that we never reviewed the Street Trash DVD.
I would just like to point out that HYB is only a year old, and was not around when the DVD came out. Hopefully we will be around long enough to cover all of our favorite horror classics while keeping up with current horror news. Until then keep checking Brain Hammer’s Picks From the Crypt for all our past horror film reviews. We will get to you Roy, I promise!
