I have no idea why (other than money), but Sony Pictures Home Entertainment decided to release a Double Feature Resurrected Edition of Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. They will come as a collector’s edition set on September 4th. The run times are 100 and 94 minutes respectively. Both are rated R for language, horror, violence, and sexuality/nudity.
As you may remember, RESIDENT EVIL hardly did the video game series justice, featured a “get from Point A to Point B plot”, and had decent action, most of which was already done in CUBE.
RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE did not do any better and the only thing I can remember from the movie was they made Nemesis cry at the end. I almost cried too.
The DVD bonus features are:
Bridge scene narrated by Milla Jovovich in character
Exclusive sneak peek of Resident Evil: Extinction.
Diary of an Apocalypse: a behind-the-scenes featurette
Zombie Dog P.O.V Test
Stuntman Set Tour
Undead Boot Camp
Memory Retention Division
Evil Archives – Photo Gallery
So why buy the double feature? I don’t know. Maybe you really dug the movies, but there is a third one hitting theaters soon, so it would make more sense to wait for the trilogy set instead. The Double Feature Resurrected Edition will be $19.94 and will also include a free movie ticket to see RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION when it opens September 21st.
