The SF Indie Fest in San Francisco is opening and closing with two genre films this year, well kind of. First, on Feb. 8th at 7pm, The Castro Theatre is David Lynch’s INLAND EMPIRE (pictures below) for the festivals opening night. As Lynch may be a genre within himself, I don’t know many horror fans that don’t like his films, and we are pretty excited to be getting INLAND EMPIRE here in SF.
Second, for the festivals closing night is the film FIDO on Feb. 18th at 7pm at the Roxie Cinema. FIDO is a zombie romantic comedy, which takes place in the small town of Willard, where zombies are domestic slaves and pets do to ZomCom’s patented domestication collar. As you can probably guess, when one of the collars goes on the fritz the town of Willard is turned upside down. Is FIDO this years SHAUN OF THE DEAD, stay tuned to Horror Yearbook to find out.
The only other genre fare at this years SF Indies fest is INFRAMAN from Hong Kong, in a rare theatrical presentation on 35mm and THE BEACH PARTY AT THE THRESHOLD OF HELL a post apocalyptic comedy. Genre fans will have to wait until Another Hole in the Head, the people at SF Indies genre festival, this summer for more.
